REIKI HEALING AND IT'S HISTORY
REIKI is a form of alternative healing that originated in Japan in the early 20th century. It is based on the belief that a person’s energy, or “life force,” can be channeled and directed to promote healing and balance in the body. The word “Reiki” is derived from two Japanese words: “rei,” which means “universal,” and “ki,” which means “life force energy.”
The history of Reiki begins with Mikao Usui, a Japanese Christian monk who is credited with developing the modern practice of Reiki. In the early 1900s, Usui was said to have had a spiritual experience on Mount Kurama in Japan, during which he received the ability to channel healing energy through his hands. He then spent many years studying and practicing different forms of healing before developing his system of healing, which he called “Reiki.”
Usui began teaching Reiki to others in the 1920s, and the practice quickly gained popularity in Japan. However, it was not until the 1950s and 60s that Reiki began to gain recognition in the Western world. One of Usui’s students, Hawayo Takata, brought Reiki to the United States in the 1930s and began teaching it to others.
Today, Reiki is practiced worldwide and is considered to be a form of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). It is used in many settings, including hospitals, clinics, and private practices. Reiki practitioners use a hands-on approach to channel healing energy to their clients, to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and promote physical and emotional healing.
While the practice of Reiki is considered safe, it is not considered a substitute for traditional medical treatment. However, many people find it to be a valuable addition to their overall health and wellness plan. Reiki is also used to help with conditions such as anxiety, depression, pain, and insomnia, and is often used in conjunction with other forms of therapy or treatment.
In conclusion, Reiki is a holistic healing method that originated in Japan, which is based on the principle that we all have a universal life force energy that can be directed to promote healing and balance in the body. The practice of Reiki has gained worldwide recognition and is widely used as a complementary and alternative medicine.
